This Arkansas quartz crystal point has the energy of a Tabby but it is actually a completely Self-Healed shard (the way to differentiate is that there aren’t 6 facets at the top, there are only three, which tells you that it is a shard off a larger point). This happened during growth. It does carry tabby energy (communication). It is Empathic with a few contact dings on the top edge of the termination. As mentioned, the backside is completely Self-Healed. It is dense with Fairy Frost and has a few Side-Kicks standing at its side. There is a sprinkling of Barnacles and Drusy and it has a slight Curve. This crystal would be good to remind you to be flexible in communication, to “go with the flow” and lean on the energy of supporters (buddies or helpers). When I ask for more, I hear: “be clear in your communications”.

TABBY or TABULAR - Tabular or Tabby crystals are thin, flat crystals. To ‘qualify’ as a Tabby, they should be no more than half as thin as they are wide (2 to 1 ratio). For example, if a crystal is one inch wide it needs to be one-half inch thick (or less) in order to be called a Tabby. If it is two inches wide it needs to be one inch thick (or less), etc. Tabby crystals are good helpers with communication. I remember this because they are shaped like a tablet.

EMPATHIC - Empathic (broken, chipped and otherwise damaged) crystals bring out compassionate feelings in us. The crystal picks up this empathy and amplifies it. Often the lesson of Empathic crystals is to remember to be compassionate and empathetic to our OWN chips, dings and perceived flaws and to remember we are still beautiful, whole, lovable and worthy.

SELF-HEALED - Self-Healed crystals have been broken (either from the matrix or breaks in the body during the growth cycle) and have started to re-seal their broken end with new growth. Self-Healing looks like scales or triangular layers (or when broken in pieces, appears to be ‘glued’ back together). It may be present on the bottom, sides or even tip of a point or cluster. Self-healed crystals are good for healing, as one might imagine and also have optimistic, persistent energy. A crystal that has first healed its own wounding demonstrates how we are more able to help heal others when we first heal our own wounds. We can take this lesson to heart in our own healing practice.

FAIRY FROST - Fairy Frost consists of fractures and inclusions of air within the crystal (found inside, not like “frost on a pumpkin”). The trapped air is wispy, white and fairy-looking. Lots of crystals have Fairy Frost but some are more fairy-like than others. Crystals with Fairy Frost are able to connect you with Nature Spirits and Fairies (Deva). They encourage us to connect with nature and to care for Mother Earth.

SIDE-KICK - This is a name that I heard many years ago but never found in an actual book as a traditional description. However, the term fits so well, I have used it over the years but never used it as an actual name and definition (never included it in any lists). Visually, a Side-kick is a partial crystal almost melded with the main crystal. Much less-defined than a Dolphin, a Side-kick doesn't really have a whole shape on its own but relies on the main crystal to make up for most of its body. There is enough of a crystal there to warrant giving it a name. Like the traditional definition of a side-kick (think Batman and Robin), a crystal Side-kick carries these energies: always being there to support the main crystal energetically, adds a component of assistance to the main crystal, has a 'buddy energy' or an energy of always being there for the other. A symbiotic relationship in which the main crystal takes "top billing" but where the Side-kick still plays a major role in the energy of the crystal.

BARNACLES - Barnacles are smaller crystals that are attached to a larger crystal. Crystals with Barnacles emit a very Old Soul, ancient feeling. The larger crystal is the ‘Old Soul’ and contains the wisdom and trust that attracts the smaller crystals (babies or new souls). They are helpful to us in the way that a loving human grandmother/father would be (like the Oracle from the Matrix movies). They help us to see things from a wider, deeper, wiser perspective. The description of a crystal with Barnacles is pertaining to the energy of the larger crystal that attracts or grows Barnacles rather than the energy of the Barnacles themselves.

DRUSY - Very similar to Barnacles, Drusy consists of very small points described as ‘a myriad of very closely set tiny crystals. The tiny crystals making up the Drusy look like sugar crystals. I think of Drusy crystals as assisting with ideas or thought forms ready to spring forth and grow.

CURVED - Crystals with a curved shape or have sides that are curved happens when the crystal is forming and it is a rare occurrence. Curved crystals have a gentle, yet powerful, energy and help promote a flexible attitude. Think “go with the flow”.
