This Arkansas quartz crystal point is broken (Empathic) but also has a deep Key that is altering the termination. It is Self Healed on most of the crystal, showing that the majority of the damage occurred in the earth, but there is a contact chip out of the termination that probably happened in the mining process. There are Barnacles which bring old soul energy. Internally, there is Fairy Frost, Mirror Fractures, and a few Rainbows where there was some internal damage. Rainbows occurring this way show how our traumas bring us gifts, though sometimes we have to shine a bright light on them and look (pay attention). There is one Lineated Face and Lineated Sides. The base has the slightest, very light Golden Healer coating. Not very prominent but enough to mention. This crystal demonstrates how, even when wounded (old wounds or new), we are capable of healing and still have much to offer the world. This crystal has a depth of character that give you pause. It has a few kind of sharp areas which are representative of being mindful of our wounding and to be aware that sometimes our sharp edges can cause others discomfort (as well as ourselves) and to be kind and loving with ourselves as we heal.

EMPATHIC - Empathic (broken, chipped and otherwise damaged) crystals bring out compassionate feelings in us. The crystal picks up this empathy and amplifies it. Often the lesson of Empathic crystals is to remember to be compassionate and empathetic to our OWN chips, dings and perceived flaws and to remember we are still beautiful, whole, lovable and worthy.

KEY - Keys are indentations left by another crystal. Key crystals help you unlock answers to questions you may have. They help you to access anything which you previously were blocked from accessing before you found the key. Is there an area which you could use help in accessing an answer which has previously been blocked to you? The energy of a Key crystal can help you to find an easier, more direct way in. Imagine this as easily opening the lock on the front door and walking right in (rather than having to check all the windows for one that is unlocked, climbing through, scraping your elbows and knocking your head). Ease of access is what Key crystal energy brings us. I like to put my finger in the Key as I work with the crystal. Meditate on the issue for which you need opening while holding the crystal in this way.

SELF-HEALED - Self-Healed crystals have been broken (either from the matrix or breaks in the body during the growth cycle) and have started to re-seal their broken end with new growth. Self-Healing looks like scales or triangular layers (or when broken in pieces, appears to be ‘glued’ back together). It may be present on the bottom, sides or even tip of a point or cluster. Self-healed crystals are good for healing, as one might imagine and also have optimistic, persistent energy. A crystal that has first healed its own wounding demonstrates how we are more able to help heal others when we first heal our own wounds. We can take this lesson to heart in our own healing practice.

BARNACLES - Barnacles are smaller crystals that are attached to a larger crystal. Crystals with Barnacles emit a very Old Soul, ancient feeling. The larger crystal is the ‘Old Soul’ and contains the wisdom and trust that attracts the smaller crystals (babies or new souls). They are helpful to us in the way that a loving human grandmother/father would be (like the Oracle from the Matrix movies). They help us to see things from a wider, deeper, wiser perspective. The description of a crystal with Barnacles is pertaining to the energy of the larger crystal that attracts or grows Barnacles rather than the energy of the Barnacles themselves.

FAIRY FROST - Fairy Frost is technically fractures and inclusions of air within the crystal. The trapped air is wispy, white and fairy-looking. Lots of crystals have Fairy Frost, some are more fairy-like than others. Crystals with Fairy Frost are able to connect you with Nature Spirits and Fairies (Deva). They encourage us to connect with nature and to care for Mother Earth.

MIRROR FRACTURES - Mirror Fractures are shiny mirror-looking areas within the crystal, caused by damage (shocks (sudden temperature changes), traumas (hits, shaking, shearing Earth movement). Mirror Fractures serve as areas on which to reflect on our traumas and show that our traumas and challenges bring us added beauty and interest.

RAINBOWS - Rainbows are present inside a crystal due to fractures. It is helpful to have very bright light, and you may have to turn the crystal (side-to-side, upside down, etc.) in order to see them. Rainbow crystals are optimistic and happy. They remind us that we are loved and they remind us to look for the gifts our traumas bring us. I think Rainbows are like secret hugs from the Crystal People. It is thrilling and warming. LINEATED FACE - A Lineated Face presents as surface markings viewed in the same way you find Record Keepers. Basically, they present as a stacked triangle (start as a small triangle or starting point that is outlined continually). Sometimes the pattern runs off the face of the crystal, sometimes it doesn’t. To picture this, just imagine the lines in a Zen Garden. The innermost point may or may not be centrally located. Lineated Face crystals may be accessed during meditation in the same way that you might use a labyrinth. To work with Lineated Face crystals, follow the lines in and down to a meditative state and when you are finished, work your way back out from the center.

LINEATED SIDES - Lineated Sides are horizontal striations across the sides of a point, to be used like a zipper to access further knowledge within the crystal. When you have worked with your crystal and feel ready for more information (desire to go deeper), unzip the crystal to receive the next layer of information. Drag your thumbnail down the side of a point to ‘unzip’ and to zip it back up, drag your thumb from the base back to the tip. Unzipping is like opening a box, looking down inside and seeing that the bottom of the box opens to infinite space. There is no end to the amount of ‘extra’ you can receive as you work with and unzip your crystal. Rezipping is like hanging up the phone. It lets the crystal know you are ‘done for now’ and you can pick up where you left off later. Remember after your session to thank the crystal for its help, and zip back up until next time.

GOLDEN HEALER - Golden Healers are quartz crystals that are partially or totally covered with a transparent golden-yellow mineral (iron oxide). Lots of crystals have this iron oxide coating, but what makes Golden Healers special is that the iron oxide is trapped beneath a layer of clear quartz. The coating on a true Golden Healer will not come off with acid washing. Often the lightly coated Golden Healers will have rainbow iridescence on the outer layer (like rainbows you see on oil slicks). This is referred to as “natural rainbow aura”. These points emit an especially high energy. Golden Healer crystals are good for healing and have a soft, bright energy. The lightly coated Golden Healers have an enthusiastic and helpful liveliness in their aura. You don’t even have to pick them up to experience this shift. Golden Healers are one good example of very small points having as much or more potential energy as a very large point, ounce for ounce (much as the strength of an ant versus a human).
