This Tabby or Tabular Arkansas quartz crystal point is water clear (Masculine) with Fairy Frost and Mirror Fractures, Lineated Sides and it is Double Terminated.
TABBY or TABULAR - Tabular or Tabby crystals are thin, flat crystals. To “qualify” as a Tabby, they should be no more than half as thin as they are wide. For example, if a crystal is one inch wide it needs to be one-half inch thick (or less) in order to be called a Tabby. If it is two inches wide it needs to be one inch thick (or less), etc. The picture is of a layered tabby crystal. Tabby crystals are good helpers with communication. I remember this because they are shaped like a tablet.
DOUBLE TERMINATED - Double Terminated crystals have a termination on both ends. These crystals grow from a “seed” molecule of silicon dioxide in clay and grow outward in both directions. They are not formed on a matrix. The energy in these crystals flows in both directions as well. Even though they have two terminations, oftentimes there is usually one end that feels like the “top” and one that feels like the “bottom.” Double Terminated points promote psychic ability and dream recall (because they send as well as receive) and are also used for balance. They are useful in any application in which you want the energy to flow in both directions. I like using them in healing layouts or grids because the energy flows in both directions.
MASCULINE - Very clear points are described as Masculine. They may be optically clear, or they may have some Fairy Frost. The base of a Masculine crystal may be dense with frost, however if more of the point is clear than cloudy, it is described as Masculine. Remember not to have pre-conceived notions. Just because a point is masculine by description doesn’t automatically mean it can only present masculine energy (the same is also true for Feminine crystals). Masculine crystals are helpful when you need to get to the point; they have a sharp and direct energy. Yang in nature, Masculine crystals are more action-oriented and the energy projects rather than recedes.
FAIRY FROST - Fairy Frost crystals have fractures and inclusions of air within them. The trapped air is wispy, white and fairy-looking. Crystals with Fairy Frost are sometimes called Devic crystals. Devic Temple crystals have a combination of Mirror Fractures, Rainbows and Fairy Frost. Lots of crystals have Fairy Frost. Some are more fairy-like than others. Crystals with Fairy Frost are able to connect you with nature spirits and fairies (deva). They encourage us to connect with nature and to care for Mother Earth.
MIRROR FRACTURES - Mirror Fractures are shiny mirror-looking areas within the crystal, caused by damage (shocks (sudden temperature changes), traumas (hits, shaking, shearing Earth movement). Mirror Fractures serve as areas on which to reflect on our traumas and show that our traumas and challenges bring us added beauty and interest.
LINEATED SIDES - Lineated Sides are horizontal striations across the sides of a point. Lineated Sides can be used like a zipper to access further knowledge within the crystal. If you have worked with your crystal for a while and feel ready for more information or feel a desire to go deeper, you can unzip the crystal to receive the next layer of information. I experience this as receiving a deeper knowing or understanding that seems to be released quietly after they are unzipped. If you drag your thumbnail down the side of a point with deep striations, you are “unzipping” the crystal. To zip it back up, drag your thumb from the base back to the tip. This is like hanging up the phone after a conversation. It lets the crystal know you are “done for now” and you can pick up where you left off later. I used to think that unzipping would be like opening a box and looking inside, revealing a few more items, and once you see them, that is all. It isn’t quite like this though. It is more like opening the box, looking down inside and seeing that the bottom of the box opens to infinite space. There is no end to the amount of “extra” you can receive as you work with and unzip your crystal. It is literally like peeling an onion that has infinite layers. Just remember when you finish with your session to thank the crystal for its help, and zip back up until next time.
