0056 LARGE ARKANSAS QUARTZ CRYSTAL POINT
- Size or details
This is a beautiful very slightly smoky crystal point with Pyrite attached. I don’t know its origin, but I don’t think it is Arkansas. Lots going on. It is Double Terminated, has some Orthoclase on the backside, the pyrite, a Dolphin, many Bridges and Inner Child points, Lineated Sides with Etching and Sigils, and Self-Healing. It has a magical fairy-like energy. I really like it.
SMOKY - Crystals become smoky when exposed to radiation. They may be natural or irradiated by man. Typically, natural Smoky crystals are usually a lighter grey/brown than crystals which have been artificially irradiated; these are usually almost black. It is possible to find very dark (almost black) natural Smoky quartz but usually it tends to be lighter in color. The only way to know for certain whether a point is naturally or artificially radiated is to ask the person where the point originated. Smoky crystal is a good grounding stone. It is also elevating to your mood because it grounds and picks up your negativity. If you use it for this purpose, be sure to cleanse your Smoky quartz frequently.
DOUBLE TERMINATED - Double Terminated crystals have a termination on both ends. These crystals grow from a ‘seed’ molecule of silicon dioxide in clay and grow outward in both directions. They are not formed on a matrix. The energy in these crystals flows in both directions as well. Even though they have two terminations, oftentimes there is usually one end that feels like the ‘top’ and one that feels like the ‘bottom’. Double Terminated points promote psychic ability and dream recall (because they send as well as receive) and are also used for balance. They are useful in any application in which you want the energy to flow in both directions. Because the energy flows in both directions I like using them in healing layouts or grids.
ORTHOCLASE - Orthoclase is a mineral rarely found attached to quartz crystal. It is a form of feldspar and has a chalky white appearance. Paraphrasing Melody from Love is in the Earth: "Orthoclase helps overcome tragedy and can provide assistance in the alignment of the chakras, the subtle bodies and the meridians of the physical body. It emits an energy of liveliness and pleasantness, stimulating tact, finesse, poise and refinement. Orthoclase is a ‘stone of cooperative effort’, and provides for contact with the ancient builders of Egypt and can be used to initiate insight into the ancient methods and associated wisdom. The plate like form of Orthoclase can be used to stimulate the higher psychic abilities and to encourage one’s faith in the personal intuitive capabilities. It has been used in the alignment of the spinal structure and the teeth." Crystals paired with this mineral will enhance the qualities listed above.
DOLPHIN - Dolphin crystals are crystals which have a smaller crystal attached to (riding along) the side, not quite big enough to be a Twin or Soulmate, but aligned similarly. They are sometimes called a baby or a sidekick. If you picture a dolphin with a baby swimming very near it, this is what the Dolphin crystal looks like (a larger crystal with a smaller crystal riding alongside). Metaphysically, Dolphin crystals have a fun, playful energetic energy (that of the baby) and they also have a nurturing, protective energy (that of the mother or adult). Imagine the energy to lovingly guide, teach and protect our young. This is the energy of a Dolphin Crystal. Anytime you need to tap into the playful, energetic, loving way dolphin mothers teach and guide their young you might ask for the assistance of or choose to work with a Dolphin crystal.
BRIDGE - A Bridge is a smaller crystal (or crystals) penetrating and located partially in and partially out of a larger crystal. Bridge Crystals help to bridge between worlds. This may be the inner and outer worlds between your inner and outer Selves or between yourself and others in the physical environment in which you now live. They are helpful in any area you might imagine needing a bridge. They can help you heal and get in touch with your inner child (bridging the gap between your outer self and your inner self). They are also good for connection and perspective, bring you up out of the muck, giving you a birds-eye view of a situation. While providing connection, they also help provide boundaries. Also called Inner Child.
INNER CHILD (see also BRIDGE) - Inner Child (a type of Bridge) is a smaller crystal (or crystals) penetrating and located partially in and partially out of a larger crystal. Both names, Bridge and Inner Child, are used interchangeably. Inner Child crystals I see as much smaller and penetrating more ‘in’ than ‘out’ and they have a feeling to me of going ‘within’. Bridge or Inner Child crystals help to bridge between worlds. It may be the inner and outer worlds between your inner and outer Selves or between yourself and others in the physical environment in which you now live. Inner Child crystals can help you heal and get in touch with your inner child (bridging the gap between your outer self and your inner self).
LINEATED SIDES - Lineated Sides are horizontal striations across the sides of a point. Lineated Sides can be used like a zipper to access further knowledge within the crystal. If you have worked with your crystal for a while and feel ready for more information or feel a desire to go deeper, you can unzip the crystal to receive the next layer of information. I experience this as receiving a deeper knowing or understanding that seems to be released quietly after they are unzipped. If you drag your thumbnail down the side of a point with deep striations, you are ‘unzipping’ the crystal. To zip it back up, drag your thumb from the base back to the tip. This is like hanging up the phone after a conversation. It lets the crystal know you are ‘done for now’ and you can pick up where you left off later. I used to think that unzipping would be like opening a box and looking inside, revealing a few more items, and once you see them, that is all. It isn’t quite like this though. It is more like opening the box, looking down inside and seeing that the bottom of the box opens to infinite space. There is no end to the amount of ‘extra’ you can receive as you work with and unzip your crystal. It is literally like peeling an onion that has infinite layers. Just remember when you finish with your session to thank the crystal for its help, and zip back up until next time.
ETCHED - Etched crystals have abrasions on the outer areas of the crystal that look like hieroglyphics or writing of some sort. To me, Etched crystals (or the etching on crystals) is symbolic in that it looks like writing or takes other shapes. (For example, in the case of Lightning Strike, it looks like a lightning bolt zigzagging across.) I feel that the best way to use these crystals depends on the particular shape the etching takes (refer to SIGILS).
SIGILS - Sigils are any markings that represent an idea. For example, a dollar sign is a sigil that represents money and abundance. Crystals may have markings that resemble things such as snake skin, mountain ranges, water or even cities. Sigils are surface features; you view them the same way you view a Record Keeper. Because a Sigil is a marking that reminds us of an idea or invokes a memory or feeling, the meaning will depend on what the sigil represents to you. When you see Sigils and images, a good thing to do is let your mind’s eye wander through them and see if they take on a life of their own (like a video in your mind’s eye). This is a form of scrying and a way to receive the messages that the crystal is bringing to you through the Sigils.
SELF HEALED - Self Healed crystals are crystals that have been broken from the matrix and started to re-seal their broken end with new growth. A Self Healed crystal looks like it has scales or triangular layers. Self-healing can be present on the bottom, sides or even tip of a point or cluster. Self Healed points also present as crystals that were broken in half but sort of ‘glued’ back together with new growth. Self-healed crystals are good for healing, as one might imagine. They also have optimistic, persistent energy. A crystal that has first healed its own wounding demonstrates how we are more able to help heal others when we first heal our own wounds. We can take this lesson to heart in our own healing practice.
Introduction to the Meaning and Uses of Pyrite from http://www.crystalvaults.com/crystal-encyclopedia/pyrite
Pyrite is often called “Fool’s Gold,” though there is nothing foolish about this mineral. Within its gleaming beauty is a stone of hidden fire, one that can be sparked to life by striking it against metal or stone. An Earth element, it also resonates with Fire energy, symbolizing the warmth and lasting presence of the sun and the ability to generate wealth by one’s own power. It is masculine in nature, a stone of action, vitality and will, and taps into one’s abilities and potential, stimulating the flow of ideas. It brings confidence and the persistence to carry things through to completion. [Eason, 180][Megemont, 150][Melody, 498][Simmons, 314-315][Ahsian, 315]
As a talisman, Pyrite is a unique protector, drawing energy from the Earth through the physical body and into the aura creating a defensive shield against negative energies, environmental pollutants, emotional attack and physical harm. It also supports one with a spirit of boldness and assertive action when protecting others, the planet, or in standing up for important issues of community. It stimulates the Second and Third Chakras, enhancing will power and the ability to see behind facades to what is real. [Melody, 497][Hall, 149][Simmons, 315][Ahsian, 315]
An iron sulfide mineral, Pyrite is commonly found around the world in a variety of geological formations, from sedimentary deposits to hydrothermal veins, and as a constituent of metamorphic rocks. It forms in masses, stalactites, grains, globes, striated cubes or twelve-sided pentagonal dodecahedral crystals. It also forms as flat, radial disks called “suns” or “dollars.” It is usually pale brassy-yellow in color, opaque, with a strong gold-like metallic luster, though some forms oxidize in moist environments and may be a darker brownish-gold. The name Pyrite derives from the Greek pyr or pyros, meaning “fire” for its ability to emit sparks when pieces are struck together or against a hard surface.
