Arkansas quartz crystal point, Masculine, Barnacles, Mirror Fractures, Rainbows, Lineated Sides
MASCULINE - Very clear points are described as Masculine. They may be optically clear, or they may have some Fairy Frost. The base of a Masculine crystal may be dense with frost, however if more of the point is clear than cloudy, it is described as Masculine. Masculine crystals are helpful when you need to get to the point; they have a sharp and direct energy. Yang in nature, Masculine crystals are more action-oriented and the energy projects rather than recedes. Typically, the term Masculine is referring to the physical characteristic of a crystal being very clear and without Fairy Frost, and doesn’t always refer to the energetic qualities. Just like with humans, many Masculine crystals do have masculine energy, but some have feminine energy. This is especially true when a clear (Masculine) crystal has an Isis Face. Just as with humans, it is important not to make assumptions based on the physical characteristic of a crystal.
BARNACLES - Barnacles are smaller crystals that are attached to a larger crystal. Usually, these crystals emit a very Old Soul, ancient feeling. The larger crystal is the ‘Old Soul’ and contains the wisdom and trust that attracts the smaller crystals (babies or new souls). I usually find that these Old Soul crystals with Barnacles are helpful to us in the way that a loving human grandmother/father or great grandmother/father would be (Imagine the Oracle from the Matrix movies). They help us to see things from a wider, deeper, wiser perspective. I think of the description of a crystal with Barnacles not so much as a description of the Barnacles themselves, but of the energy of the crystal that attracts or grows Barnacles.
MIRROR FRACTURES - Mirror Fractures are shiny mirror-looking areas within the crystal, caused by damage (shocks (sudden temperature changes), traumas (hits, shaking, shearing Earth movement). Mirror Fractures serve as areas on which to reflect on our traumas and show that our traumas and challenges bring us added beauty and interest.
RAINBOWS - Rainbows are present inside a crystal due to fractures. It is helpful to have very bright light, and you may have to turn the crystal (side-to-side, upside down, etc.) in order to see them. Rainbow crystals are optimistic and happy. They remind us that we are loved and they remind us to look for the gifts our traumas bring us. I think Rainbows are like secret hugs from the Crystal People. It is thrilling and warming. Connect to the gift of love these crystals with Rainbows bring.
LINEATED SIDES - Lineated Sides are horizontal striations across the sides of a point. Lineated Sides can be used like a zipper to access further knowledge within the crystal. If you have worked with your crystal for a while and feel ready for more information or feel a desire to go deeper, you can unzip the crystal to receive the next layer of information. I experience this as receiving a deeper knowing or understanding that seems to be released quietly after they are unzipped. If you drag your thumbnail down the side of a point with deep striations, you are ‘unzipping’ the crystal. To zip it back up, drag your thumb from the base back to the tip. This is like hanging up the phone after a conversation. It lets the crystal know you are ‘done for now’ and you can pick up where you left off later. I used to think that unzipping would be like opening a box and looking inside, revealing a few more items, and once you see them, that is all. It isn’t quite like this though. It is more like opening the box, looking down inside and seeing that the bottom of the box opens to infinite space. There is no end to the amount of ‘extra’ you can receive as you work with and unzip your crystal. It is literally like peeling an onion that has infinite layers. Just remember when you finish with your session to thank the crystal for its help, and zip back up until next time.
