This Arkansas quartz crystal cluster is exactly as it was when it came out of the crystal mine. No acid bath. It is just as I picked it up at the crystal mine. I believe this came from Ron Coleman’s mine here in Arkansas, found by yours truly. You might choose to go ahead and give this cluster a bath to get the dust and clay off, I don’t think it would benefit from an acid bath.

This wonderful cluster sits on a flat, Self-Healed base. Would make a lovely desk piece. It is still covered in a layer of dust and clay from the mine, probably would clean up really well without an acid bath. I wanted to leave it as is for whoever decides to adopt. It is Masculine and slightly Empathic with some contact dings. There are lots of Barnacles for old soul energy. The largest point of the cluster is a Dow (sides extrapolated due to a crystal Imprint) and the next largest is a Channeler (Empathic with a small contact ding). Most of the other points are Bridged into one-another. There are some Keys at the base. Crystals with the mineral and rust still on (and clay in some cases) tell us to "remember where you come from". It speaks to many levels and layers. Where we come from physically, what we've been through, both emotionally and physically, where we come from in our past (this life) and where we come from ultimately (Spirit) etc. These crystals give us pause to reflect on our past and contemplate the residue of the experiences we have accumulated.

Energetically, this cluster brings the energy of a Dow and also a Channeler (Connection with Self & Universal Truth). There are lots of thick, well-established Barnacles for an old-soul energy. Bridges bring connection and perspective. Sits nicely on a flat Self-Healed base. Love this cluster.

CLUSTER - Clusters are points growing together on a matrix. Some Clusters grow on a sandstone matrix, others on all quartz, and still others may grow from a ‘seed’ of crystal (like a mass of double terminated points). Clusters are good for helping with group dynamics. Families, co-workers, anywhere a group of people might need help in getting along. They are also good for raising the vibrations in an environment and bringing light and energy into that space.

MASCULINE - Very clear points are described as Masculine (referring to physical features and possibly energy, not necessarily gender). They are helpful when you need to get to the point. The energy they have is sharp and direct. Yang in nature, Masculine crystals are action-oriented and the energy projects rather than recedes.

EMPATHIC - Empathic (broken, chipped and otherwise damaged) crystals bring out compassionate feelings in us. The crystal picks up this empathy and amplifies it. Often the lesson of Empathic crystals is to remember to be compassionate and empathetic to our OWN chips, dings and perceived flaws and to remember we are still beautiful, whole, lovable and worthy.

BARNACLES - Barnacles are smaller crystals that are attached to a larger crystal. Crystals with Barnacles emit a very Old Soul, ancient feeling. The larger crystal is the ‘Old Soul’ and contains the wisdom and trust that attracts the smaller crystals (babies or new souls). They are helpful to us in the way that a loving human grandmother/father would be (like the Oracle from the Matrix movies). They help us to see things from a wider, deeper, wiser perspective. The energetic description of a crystal with Barnacles is pertaining to the energy of the larger crystal that attracts or grows Barnacles rather than the energy of the Barnacles themselves.

DOW (also called TRANS-CHANNELER) - This is an example of a crystal with two names for the same configuration. Called both Dow (named after Janeann Dow) as well as Trans-Channeler (because these crystals are both Channelers and Transmitters in configuration), it is more commonly referred to as Dow. Dow crystals have three seven-sided faces with a triangular face between each of them. The sides of the six faces will look like 7-3-7-3-7-3. A perfect Dow or Trans-Channeler will have symmetrically-sized faces and a centrally located point. Some will be uneven in symmetry but the count will be correct. If the Transmitter configuration is more prominent (2 large 7's and one small 7), I call it a Dow with a Transmitter orientation. If one 7 is larger or more prominent than the other two 7's, I call it a Dow with a Channeler orientation. When the faces are symmetrical (textbook Dow), the Channeler and the Transmitter qualities are equally merged. Dow crystals provide a connection with the Self and Universal Truth. Transmitters help you access higher wisdom, (your Higher Self or Spirit Guides or even Angels) and Channelers assist in bringing through the information from same. You can see why the Dow crystal is so powerful. Dow crystals have a special energy about them that is sharp, clean and direct.

IMPRINT - Imprints are indentations or marks left on the sides or faces of a crystal where they grew in close proximity to another crystal. Crystals with Imprints represent how we are affected by outside influences (usually other people). The original structure adapts to its environment as outside influences (associations with people) change its shape or form. This allows for growth and change, while still maintaining the crystal’s basic inherent truth and beauty. An Imprint is a type of Key, so the characteristics of Key crystals applies as well (ease of access/opening).

CHANNELER - A Channeling crystal (Channeler), has a main face with seven edges. Directly behind that seven-sided face, there will be a three-sided face (triangle). This configuration is described as a 7-3. Channelers or Channeling crystals help you access higher wisdom, (Higher Self or Spirit Guides, Angels, etc). These crystals exude a crisp, regal energy. Channeling or Channeler crystals can bring you love and light from beings in the higher realms.

BRIDGE - A Bridge is a smaller crystal penetrating a larger crystal. They help to bridge between worlds (the inner and outer worlds between your Inner and Outer Selves or between yourself and others) and are helpful in any area you might imagine needing a bridge. They can help you heal and get in touch with your inner child (bridging the gap between your outer self and your inner self) and are also good for connection and perspective. Just like a physical bridge, they can rise you above the muck (or a difficult crossing), while providing a birds-eye view of a situation. While providing connection, they also help provide boundaries.

KEY - Keys are indentations left by another crystal. Key crystals help you unlock answers to questions you may have. They help you to access anything which you previously were blocked from accessing before you found the key. Is there an area which you could use help in accessing an answer which has previously been blocked to you? The energy of a Key crystal can help you to find an easier, more direct way in. Imagine this as easily opening the lock on the front door and walking right in (rather than having to check all the windows for one that is unlocked, climbing through, scraping your elbows and knocking your head). Ease of access is what Key crystal energy brings us. I like to put my finger in the Key as I work with the crystal. Meditate on the issue for which you need opening while holding the crystal in this way.

KEY vs IMPRINT: How would you determine a Key versus an Imprint? Both are caused by the presence of another crystal which the main crystal has grown around. A textbook Key typically presents when the termination (or base) of another crystal has penetrated the main crystal, leaving an indentation (like poking your finger straight into the icing on a cake). Sometimes Keys can be partial (say if the 'fingertip' indent was partially lost when the crystal was separated from the matrix). An Imprint usually presents along the sides and occurs like if you laid the side of your finger onto the icing. One is more directly poking into (Key) and the other is more laying side-by-side (Imprint). Because the physical definitions can be kind of arbitrary, I defer to which energy each marking presents with, whether Key or Imprint. Don't get hung up on names, go with energy.

SELF-HEALED - Self-Healed crystals have been broken (either from the matrix or breaks in the body during the growth cycle) and have started to re-seal their broken end with new growth. Self-Healing looks like scales or triangular layers (or when broken in pieces, appears to be ‘glued’ back together). It may be present on the bottom, sides or even tip of a point or cluster. Self-healed crystals are good for healing, as one might imagine and also have optimistic, persistent energy. A crystal that has first healed its own wounding demonstrates how we are more able to help heal others when we first heal our own wounds. We can take this lesson to heart in our own healing practice.
