This Arkansas quartz crystal point is Masculine (clear) but very dense with Fairy Frost. It has a small Curved Dolphin at the foot surrounded by Imprints. There are Record Keepers on the faces, but I had trouble photographing them (so no photos captured). They are on nearly every face; some are faint and a few more prominent. There are Lineated Sides and the base is well Self-Healed.

Energetically, this crystal is soft and light, quiet and unassuming. Curved crystals encourage flexibility and ‘going with the flow’ and Dolphins remind us that learning should be undertaken as play and exploration with the knowing that we are being guided and guarded from possible danger.

MASCULINE - Very clear points are described as Masculine (referring to physical features and possibly energy, not necessarily gender). They are helpful when you need to get to the point. The energy they have is sharp and direct. Yang in nature, Masculine crystals are action-oriented and the energy projects rather than recedes.

FAIRY FROST - Fairy Frost is technically fractures and inclusions of air within the crystal. The trapped air is wispy, white and fairy-looking. Lots of crystals have Fairy Frost, some are more fairy-like than others. Crystals with Fairy Frost are able to connect you with Nature Spirits and Fairies (Deva). They encourage us to connect with nature and to care for Mother Earth.

CURVED - Crystals with a curved shape or have sides that are curved happens when the crystal is forming and it is a rare occurrence. Curved crystals have a gentle, yet powerful, energy and help promote a flexible attitude. Think “go with the flow”.

DOLPHIN - Dolphin crystals are crystals which have a smaller crystal attached to (riding along) the side, not quite big enough to be a Twin or Soulmate, but aligned similarly. Picture a dolphin with a baby swimming very near it, this is what the Dolphin crystal looks like. Metaphysically, Dolphin crystals have a fun, playful energetic energy (that of the baby) and they also have a nurturing, protective energy (that of the mother or adult). Anytime you need to tap into the playful, energetic way dolphin babies learn and explore and the loving, protective, allowing way dolphin mothers teach and guide their young, you might ask for the assistance of or choose to work with a Dolphin crystal. Dolphin crystal energy is about joyful exploration and play with the assurance of built in protection, guidance and loving oversight.

IMPRINT - Imprints are indentations or marks left on the sides or faces of a crystal where they grew in close proximity to another crystal. Crystals with Imprints represent how we are affected by outside influences (usually other people). The original structure adapts to its environment as outside influences (associations with people) change its shape or form. This allows for growth and change, while still maintaining the crystal’s basic inherent truth and beauty. An Imprint is a type of Key, so the characteristics of Key crystals applies as well (ease of access/opening).

RECORD KEEPER - A Record Keeper is a triangular marking on the face. They seem to be three-dimensional, but they usually can’t be felt with your finger. You have to hold a crystal at just the right angle in order to see the Record Keeper. Usually they are very sharply edged, equilateral triangles; however, I have seen them with rounded bottoms as well (more arrowhead shaped), which I call non-traditional. There may only be one present on a face, or you may find layers and layers of them. Record Keepers will appear and disappear (I call that ‘popping’). A Record Keeper crystal will find its way to the person who needs the information it contains and they help you access special wisdom and information specific to you. In a way, they represent storage devices but the information is accessed via a portal. The portal is the Record Keeper marking.

TO VIEW SURFACE FEATURES - To view the surface of the crystal (versus looking inside), hold your crystal parallel to a light source so that you can use the glare that the light creates in order to see what is on the surface. To illustrate: Imagine a very clear lake. If the sun isn't shining off the surface, then you see right down into the lake and you can see rocks and fish and weeds. When the glare of the sun is on the water, you can see things floating on the surface like dust, bugs, or even ripples that you wouldn't have been able to see without the sun's glare. The same is true for surface features on a crystal. The best way to do this (and you will do it for each face) is to find your best light source, the sun if you are outside or a bright light or lamp if you are inside. Then, starting with the main face, work your way around the crystal by tipping it until you can see the surface features in the light's glare. There may be Etching, Record Keepers, Sigils or scratches; sometimes, there are no markings at all. Be patient. Sometimes it takes a little bit of trial and error to get just the right angle.

TO WORK WITH RECORD KEEPERS - To work with a Record Keeper, if you have a knowing that there is one but can't see it, that is fine. Become familiar with the look of the Record Keeper (or knowing it is there). In meditation, I imagine myself shrinking and the Recorder growing until I can step through like a doorway. See where you are led when you step through. What do you see, where are you, what information is presented? Just as with dreams, the experience often fades. If what was presented seemed ‘mundane’ on one hand or even remarkable on the other, we think it will be easily remembered. I find that we think we would never forget the details but we often do. It is best to write down your experience when finished. This is also helpful for when you revisit the Record Keeper portal, you may find a story or theme developing in your messages received.

LINEATED SIDES - Lineated Sides are horizontal striations across the sides of a point, to be used like a zipper to access further knowledge within the crystal. When you have worked with your crystal and feel ready for more information (desire to go deeper), unzip the crystal to receive the next layer of information. Drag your thumbnail down the side of a point to ‘unzip’ and to zip it back up, drag your thumb from the base back to the tip. Unzipping is like opening a box, looking down inside and seeing that the bottom of the box opens to infinite space. There is no end to the amount of ‘extra’ you can receive as you work with and unzip your crystal. Rezipping is like hanging up the phone. It lets the crystal know you are ‘done for now’ and you can pick up where you left off later. Remember after your session to thank the crystal for its help, and zip back up until next time.

SELF-HEALED - Self-Healed crystals have been broken (either from the matrix or breaks in the body during the growth cycle) and have started to re-seal their broken end with new growth. Self-Healing looks like scales or triangular layers (or when broken in pieces, appears to be ‘glued’ back together). It may be present on the bottom, sides or even tip of a point or cluster. Self-healed crystals are good for healing, as one might imagine and also have optimistic, persistent energy. A crystal that has first healed its own wounding demonstrates how we are more able to help heal others when we first heal our own wounds. We can take this lesson to heart in our own healing practice.
