This Arkansas quartz crystal point is Yin/Yang (half Masculine/clear with Mirror Fractures inside and half Feminine/cloudy with Fairy Frost). There are Keys and Imprints. A Stepped Face asks if there is room to level up. There are Lineated Sides to unzip for further information when ready and a very light dusting of Drusy. Energetically, this crystal brings balance between forward momentum and intuition, nurturing and receptivity. When held, there is a pulsing energy behind my eyes and a settling, soothing, grounding sensation. Nice!

YIN/YANG - Yin/Yang crystals are half feminine and half masculine (referring to energy, not gender). They present as half cloudy and half clear. The base of a Yin/Yang point may be completely milky or just very densely clouded with Fairy Frost (almost white) and the top part may be clear with a little wispy Fairy Frost. Knowing that Yin/Yang crystals have an equal measure of masculine to feminine energy, they are good for attaining and maintaining balance.

MASCULINE - Very clear points are described as Masculine (referring to energy, not gender). They are helpful when you need to get to the point. The energy they have is sharp and direct. Yang in nature, Masculine crystals are action-oriented and the energy projects rather than recedes.

MIRROR FRACTURES - Mirror Fractures are shiny mirror-looking areas within the crystal, caused by damage (shocks (sudden temperature changes), traumas (hits, shaking, shearing Earth movement). Mirror Fractures serve as areas on which to reflect on our traumas and show that our traumas and challenges bring us added beauty and interest.

FEMININE - Crystals that are dense with Fairy Frost (sometimes milky in appearance) are described as Feminine (referring to energy, not gender). The concentration of density may vary from nearly opaque Fairy Frost to solid white, milky quartz. Feminine crystals help us (both men and women) to get in touch with our feminine nature. They have a soft, yet deep, mysterious energy. Yin in nature, Feminine crystals are intuitive, nurturing and receptive.

FAIRY FROST - Fairy Frost is technically fractures and inclusions of air within the crystal. The trapped air is wispy, white and fairy-looking. Lots of crystals have Fairy Frost, some are more fairy-like than others. Crystals with Fairy Frost are able to connect you with Nature Spirits and Fairies (Deva). They encourage us to connect with nature and to care for Mother Earth.

KEY - Keys are indentations left by another crystal. Key crystals help you unlock answers to questions you may have. They help you to access anything which you previously were blocked from accessing before you found the key. Is there an area which you could use help in accessing an answer which has previously been blocked to you? The energy of a Key crystal can help you to find an easier, more direct way in. Imagine this as easily opening the lock on the front door and walking right in (rather than having to check all the windows for one that is unlocked, climbing through, scraping your elbows and knocking your head). Ease of access is what Key crystal energy brings us. I like to put my finger in the Key as I work with the crystal. Meditate on the issue for which you need opening while holding the crystal in this way.

IMPRINTS represent how we are affected by outside influences (usually other people). The original structure adapts to its environment as outside influences (associations with people) change its shape or form. This allows for growth and change, while still maintaining the crystal’s basic inherent truth and beauty.

How would you determine a Key versus an Imprint? Both are caused by the presence of another crystal which the main crystal has grown around. A textbook Key typically presents when the termination (or base) of another crystal has penetrated the main crystal, leaving an indentation (like poking your finger straight into the icing on a cake). Sometimes Keys can be partial (say if the 'fingertip' indent was partially lost when the crystal was separated from the matrix). An Imprint usually presents along the sides and occurs like if you laid the side of your finger onto the icing. One is more directly poking into (Key) and the other is more laying side-by-side (Imprint). Because the physical definitions can be kind of arbitrary, I defer to which energy each marking presents with, whether Key or Imprint. Don't get hung up on names, go with energy.

STEPPED FACET - A 'stepped facet' (or 'stepped face') is a facet (face) that has what almost appears to be a separate facet or even a window within the confines of the face. It literally looks like a 'step' in the face. There really aren't descriptions of these features anywhere. Energetically, a stepped facet shows where, in the growth of a crystal (or person), the energy has "leveled up", or made a change from one way of thinking or being to another. A literal "stepping up" to a new level.

LINEATED SIDES - Lineated Sides are horizontal striations across the sides of a point, to be used like a zipper to access further knowledge within the crystal. When you have worked with your crystal and feel ready for more information (desire to go deeper), unzip the crystal to receive the next layer of information. Drag your thumbnail down the side of a point to ‘unzip’ and to zip it back up, drag your thumb from the base back to the tip. Unzipping is like opening a box, looking down inside and seeing that the bottom of the box opens to infinite space. There is no end to the amount of ‘extra’ you can receive as you work with and unzip your crystal. Rezipping is like hanging up the phone. It lets the crystal know you are ‘done for now’ and you can pick up where you left off later. Remember after your session to thank the crystal for its help, and zip back up until next time.

DRUSY - Very similar to Barnacles, Drusy consists of very small points described as ‘a myriad of very closely set tiny crystals. The tiny crystals making up the Drusy look like sugar crystals. I think of Drusy crystals as assisting with ideas or thought forms ready to spring forth and grow.
