This Arkansas quartz crystal point is Yin/Yang (1/2 masculine/clear, ½ feminine/cloudy) with some Mirror Fractures and wispy Fairy Frost. There are Stepped and Lineated Sides, and a Stepped Face. It is slightly Empathic with some contact dings. There is a shallow Key and some Imprints and it is what I call an eroded Channeler (a chip out of the termination causes you to need to extrapolate edges, as well as the stepping in one of the facets also requires extrapolating edges. Stepped sides and faces metaphorically represent that during growth, the energy has potential to "level up", a literal "stepping up" to a new level. Shows that even when we conquer a new 'rung' there are levels above to reach to.

YIN/YANG - Yin/Yang crystals are half feminine and half masculine (referring to energy, not gender). They present as half cloudy and half clear. The base of a Yin/Yang point may be completely milky or just very densely clouded with Fairy Frost (almost white) and the top part may be clear with a little wispy Fairy Frost. Knowing that Yin/Yang crystals have an equal measure of masculine to feminine energy, they are good for attaining and maintaining balance.

FAIRY FROST - Fairy Frost is technically fractures and inclusions of air within the crystal. The trapped air is wispy, white and fairy-looking. Lots of crystals have Fairy Frost, some are more fairy-like than others. Crystals with Fairy Frost are able to connect you with Nature Spirits and Fairies (Deva). They encourage us to connect with nature and to care for Mother Earth.

MIRROR FRACTURES - Mirror Fractures are shiny mirror-looking areas within the crystal, caused by damage (shocks (sudden temperature changes), traumas (hits, shaking, shearing Earth movement). Mirror Fractures serve as areas on which to reflect on our traumas and show that our traumas and challenges bring us added beauty and interest.

LINEATED SIDES - Lineated Sides are horizontal striations across the sides of a point, to be used like a zipper to access further knowledge within the crystal. When you have worked with your crystal and feel ready for more information (desire to go deeper), unzip the crystal to receive the next layer of information. Drag your thumbnail down the side of a point to ‘unzip’ and to zip it back up, drag your thumb from the base back to the tip. Unzipping is like opening a box, looking down inside and seeing that the bottom of the box opens to infinite space. There is no end to the amount of ‘extra’ you can receive as you work with and unzip your crystal. Rezipping is like hanging up the phone. It lets the crystal know you are ‘done for now’ and you can pick up where you left off later. Remember after your session to thank the crystal for its help, and zip back up until next time.

STEPPED SIDES - Stepped sides appear almost like ladders in the Lineation on the sides of a crystal. Lemurian Seed Crystals often have stepped sides. Energetically, a stepped side shows where, in the growth of a crystal (or person), the energy has potential to "level up", or make a change from one way of thinking or being to another. A literal "stepping up" to a new level. It also shows that even when we conquer a new 'rung' there are levels above to reach to.

STEPPED FACET - A 'stepped facet' (or 'stepped face') is a facet (face) that has what almost appears to be a separate facet or even a window within the confines of the face. It literally looks like a 'step' in the face. There really aren't descriptions of these features anywhere. Energetically, a stepped facet shows where, in the growth of a crystal (or person), the energy has "levelled up", or made a change from one way of thinking or being to another. A literal "stepping up" to a new level.

EMPATHIC - Empathic (broken, chipped and otherwise damaged) crystals bring out compassionate feelings in us. The crystal picks up this empathy and amplifies it. Often the lesson of Empathic crystals is to remember to be compassionate and empathetic to our OWN chips, dings and perceived flaws and to remember we are still beautiful, whole, lovable and worthy.

KEY - Keys are indentations left by another crystal. Key crystals help you unlock answers to questions you may have. They help you to access anything which you previously were blocked from accessing before you found the key. Is there an area which you could use help in accessing an answer which has previously been blocked to you? The energy of a Key crystal can help you to find an easier, more direct way in. Imagine this as easily opening the lock on the front door and walking right in (rather than having to check all the windows for one that is unlocked, climbing through, scraping your elbows and knocking your head). Ease of access is what Key crystal energy brings us. I like to put my finger in the Key as I work with the crystal. Meditate on the issue for which you need opening while holding the crystal in this way.

IMPRINTS represent how we are affected by outside influences (usually other people). The original structure adapts to its environment as outside influences (associations with people) change its shape or form. This allows for growth and change, while still maintaining the crystal’s basic inherent truth and beauty.

How would you determine a Key versus an Imprint? Both are caused by the presence of another crystal which the main crystal has grown around. A textbook Key typically presents when the termination (or base) of another crystal has penetrated the main crystal, leaving an indentation (like poking your finger straight into the icing on a cake). Sometimes Keys can be partial (say if the 'fingertip' indent was partially lost when the crystal was separated from the matrix). An Imprint usually presents along the sides and occurs like if you laid the side of your finger onto the icing. One is more directly poking into (Key) and the other is more laying side-by-side (Imprint). Because the physical definitions can be kind of arbitrary, I defer to which energy each marking presents with, whether Key or Imprint. Don't get hung up on names, go with energy.

CHANNELER - A Channeling crystal (Channeler), has a main face with seven edges. Directly behind that seven-sided face, there will be a three-sided face (triangle). This configuration is described as a 7-3. Channelers or Channeling crystals help you access higher wisdom, either in the form of your Higher Self or Spirit Guides, or of Angels. These crystals exude a crisp, regal energy. Channeling or Channeler crystals can bring you love and light from beings in the higher realms.
