This Arkansas quartz crystal point is Double Terminated and Masculine (clear) with Fairy Frost and a Mirror Fracture with Rainbow. This is metaphor for how our traumas also bring gifts with them but you might have to look (it might not be immediately obvious). The base and side are Self-Healed. There is a Bridge (also Double Terminated but with one termination that has been broken and is Self-Healing). There are interesting Sigils on Lineated Faces. The sides are Lineated and there is a small Manganese Inclusion. This crystal has a settling energy when picked up. The Double Termination lends itself to back and forth communication, the Bridge, connection and perspective. Energy is inviting and peaceful.

DOUBLE TERMINATED - Double Terminated crystals have a termination on both ends. These crystals grow from a ‘seed’ molecule of silicon dioxide in clay and grow outward in both directions. They are not formed on a matrix. The energy in these crystals flows in both directions as well. Even though they have two terminations, oftentimes there is usually one end that feels like the ‘top’ and one that feels like the ‘bottom’. Double Terminated points promote psychic ability and dream recall (because they send as well as receive) and are also used for balance. They are useful in any application in which you want the energy to flow in both directions. Because the energy flows in both directions, I like using them in healing layouts or grids and for communication with guides/others.

MASCULINE - Very clear points are described as Masculine (referring to energy, not gender). They are helpful when you need to get to the point. The energy they have is sharp and direct. Yang in nature, Masculine crystals are action-oriented and the energy projects rather than recedes.

FAIRY FROST - Fairy Frost is technically fractures and inclusions of air within the crystal. The trapped air is wispy, white and fairy-looking. Lots of crystals have Fairy Frost, some are more fairy-like than others. Crystals with Fairy Frost are able to connect you with Nature Spirits and Fairies (Deva). They encourage us to connect with nature and to care for Mother Earth.

MIRROR FRACTURES - Mirror Fractures are shiny mirror-looking areas within the crystal, caused by damage (shocks (sudden temperature changes), traumas (hits, shaking, shearing Earth movement). Mirror Fractures serve as areas on which to reflect on our traumas and show that our traumas and challenges bring us added beauty and interest.

RAINBOWS - Rainbows are present inside a crystal due to fractures. It is helpful to have very bright light, and you may have to turn the crystal (side-to-side, upside down, etc.) in order to see them. Rainbow crystals are optimistic and happy. They remind us that we are loved and they remind us to look for the gifts our traumas bring us. I think Rainbows are like secret hugs from the Crystal People. It is thrilling and warming. SELF-HEALED - Self-Healed crystals have been broken (either from the matrix or breaks in the body during the growth cycle) and have started to re-seal their broken end with new growth. Self-Healing looks like scales or triangular layers (or when broken in pieces, appears to be ‘glued’ back together). It may be present on the bottom, sides or even tip of a point or cluster. Self-healed crystals are good for healing, as one might imagine and also have optimistic, persistent energy. A crystal that has first healed its own wounding demonstrates how we are more able to help heal others when we first heal our own wounds. We can take this lesson to heart in our own healing practice.

BRIDGE - A Bridge is a smaller crystal (or crystals) penetrating and located partially in and partially out of a larger crystal. They help to bridge between worlds (the inner and outer worlds between your inner and outer Selves or between yourself and others) and are helpful in any area you might imagine needing a bridge. They can help you heal and get in touch with your inner child (bridging the gap between your outer self and your inner self) and are also good for connection and perspective. Just like a physical bridge, they can rise you above the muck (or a difficult crossing), while providing a birds-eye view of a situation. While providing connection, they also help provide boundaries.

SIGILS - Sigils are any markings that represent an idea. (For example, "$" is a sigil that represents money and abundance, a heart represents love, etc.) Surface features which may be etched (tactile) or appear similar to a Record Keeper (seen in the glare of a light but not easily felt). Because a Sigil is a marking that reminds us of an idea or invokes a memory or feeling, the meaning will depend on what the sigil represents to you. Let your mind’s eye wander and see if they take on a life of their own like a video in your mind’s eye, (or if they bring up a thought or feeling). This is a form of scrying and a way to receive the messages that the crystal is bringing to you through the Sigils.

LINEATED FACE - A Lineated Face presents as surface markings viewed in the same way you find Record Keepers. Basically, they present as a stacked triangle (start as a small triangle or starting point that is outlined continually). Sometimes the pattern runs off the face of the crystal, sometimes it doesn’t. To picture this, just imagine the lines in a Zen Garden. The innermost point may or may not be centrally located. Lineated Face crystals may be accessed during meditation in the same way that you might use a labyrinth. To work with Lineated Face crystals, follow the lines in and down to a meditative state and when you are finished, work your way back out from the center.

LINEATED SIDES - Lineated Sides are horizontal striations across the sides of a point, to be used like a zipper to access further knowledge within the crystal. When you have worked with your crystal and feel ready for more information (desire to go deeper), unzip the crystal to receive the next layer of information. Drag your thumbnail down the side of a point to ‘unzip’ and to zip it back up, drag your thumb from the base back to the tip. Unzipping is like opening a box, looking down inside and seeing that the bottom of the box opens to infinite space. There is no end to the amount of ‘extra’ you can receive as you work with and unzip your crystal. Rezipping is like hanging up the phone. It lets the crystal know you are ‘done for now’ and you can pick up where you left off later. Remember after your session to thank the crystal for its help, and zip back up until next time.

INCLUDED - Inclusions in crystals occur when crystal is forming, and other substances are present in the solution. These substances might be air bubbles or other minerals but when speaking about Included crystals we are usually referring to other minerals. These minerals become trapped (or included) within the crystal point during its growth and are therefore called Inclusions. Air and moisture inclusions fall into the category of Fairy Frost, a non-mineral inclusion. The properties of Included crystals will vary, depending on the mineral included within the crystal. The properties of the included mineral will be enhanced and amplified by being trapped within the structure of quartz.

MANGANESE – Manganese is a dark black mineral often present on Arkansas crystal. A mineral of bonding, Manganese brings people closer together, activating the energies of cooperation in group efforts. Manganese stimulates spontaneity, creativity and enhances positive energy. Manganese produces a grounding effect which can help to balance the emotions and the physical body.
