This Double Terminated Arkansas quartz crystal point falls somewhere between Dolphin and Twin/Soulmate. I can’t put it firmly into either category without also seeing it as the other, so I am putting it in both. It has a really gentle, accepting energy. Soft and caring. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy, safe and protected when I hold it. Internally, there is Fairy Frost, Mirror Fractures and Rainbows. Lot of Barnacles bring old soul energy. There is Self-Healing on the base, some thin Side-Kicks and interesting Sigils.

DOUBLE TERMINATED - Double Terminated crystals have a termination on both ends. These crystals grow from a ‘seed’ molecule of silicon dioxide in clay and grow outward in both directions. They are not formed on a matrix. The energy in these crystals flows in both directions as well. Even though they have two terminations, oftentimes there is usually one end that feels like the ‘top’ and one that feels like the ‘bottom’. Double Terminated points promote psychic ability and dream recall (because they send as well as receive) and are also used for balance. They are useful in any application in which you want the energy to flow in both directions. Because the energy flows in both directions, I like using them in healing layouts or grids.

DOLPHIN - Dolphin crystals are crystals which have a smaller crystal attached to (riding along) the side, not quite big enough to be a Twin or Soulmate, but aligned similarly. They are sometimes called a baby. If you picture a dolphin with a baby swimming very near it, this is what the Dolphin crystal looks like (a larger crystal with a smaller crystal riding alongside). Metaphysically, Dolphin crystals have a fun, playful energetic energy (that of the baby) and they also have a nurturing, protective energy (that of the mother or adult). Imagine the energy to lovingly guide, teach and protect our young. This is the energy of a Dolphin Crystal. Anytime you need to tap into the playful, energetic, loving way dolphin mothers teach and guide their young you might ask for the assistance of or choose to work with a Dolphin crystal.

TWIN or SOULMATE - The crystal names Twin and Soulmate can be used interchangeably and are defined as "two crystals of a similar size grown side-by-side". These crystals promote loving contact and togetherness. Soulmate or Twin crystals may assist in the search for a mate but we are ultimately responsible for the outcome. If you are already in relationship, a Twin or Soulmate can help strengthen togetherness and bonding in your current relationship. These descriptions aren't only referring to intimate partnerships or relationships. It applies to any bonded pair.

FAIRY FROST - Fairy Frost is technically fractures and inclusions of air within the crystal. The trapped air is wispy, white and fairy-looking. Lots of crystals have Fairy Frost, some are more fairy-like than others. Crystals with Fairy Frost are able to connect you with Nature Spirits and Fairies (Deva). They encourage us to connect with nature and to care for Mother Earth.

MIRROR FRACTURES - Mirror Fractures are shiny mirror-looking areas within the crystal, caused by damage (shocks (sudden temperature changes), traumas (hits, shaking, shearing Earth movement). Mirror Fractures serve as areas on which to reflect on our traumas and show that our traumas and challenges bring us added beauty and interest.

RAINBOWS - Rainbows are present inside a crystal due to fractures. It is helpful to have very bright light, and you may have to turn the crystal (side-to-side, upside down, etc.) in order to see them. Rainbow crystals are optimistic and happy. They remind us that we are loved and they remind us to look for the gifts our traumas bring us. I think Rainbows are like secret hugs from the Crystal People. It is thrilling and warming. BARNACLES - Barnacles are smaller crystals that are attached to a larger crystal. Crystals with Barnacles emit a very Old Soul, ancient feeling. The larger crystal is the ‘Old Soul’ and contains the wisdom and trust that attracts the smaller crystals (babies or new souls). They are helpful to us in the way that a loving human grandmother/father would be (like the Oracle from the Matrix movies). They help us to see things from a wider, deeper, wiser perspective. The description of a crystal with Barnacles is pertaining to the energy of the larger crystal that attracts or grows Barnacles rather than the energy of the Barnacles themselves.

SELF-HEALED - Self-Healed crystals have been broken (either from the matrix or breaks in the body during the growth cycle) and have started to re-seal their broken end with new growth. Self-Healing looks like scales or triangular layers (or when broken in pieces, appears to be ‘glued’ back together). It may be present on the bottom, sides or even tip of a point or cluster. Self-healed crystals are good for healing, as one might imagine and also have optimistic, persistent energy. A crystal that has first healed its own wounding demonstrates how we are more able to help heal others when we first heal our own wounds. We can take this lesson to heart in our own healing practice.

SIDE-KICK - This is a name that I heard many years ago but never found in an actual book as a traditional description. However, the term fits so well, I have used it over the years but never used it as an actual name and definition (never included it in any lists). Visually, a Side-kick is a partial crystal almost melded with the main crystal. Much less-defined than a Dolphin, a Side-kick doesn't really have a whole shape on its own but relies on the main crystal to make up for most of its body. There is enough of a crystal there to warrant giving it a name. Like the traditional definition of a side-kick (think Batman and Robin), a crystal Side-kick carries these energies: always being there to support the main crystal energetically, adds a component of assistance to the main crystal, has a 'buddy energy' or an energy of always being there for the other. A symbiotic relationship in which the main crystal takes "top billing" but where the Side-kick still plays a major role in the energy of the crystal.

SIGILS - Sigils are any markings that represent an idea. (For example, "$" is a sigil that represents money and abundance, a heart represents love, etc.) Surface features which may be etched (tactile) or appear similar to a Record Keeper (seen in the glare of a light but not easily felt). Because a Sigil is a marking that reminds us of an idea or invokes a memory or feeling, the meaning will depend on what the sigil represents to you. Let your mind’s eye wander and see if they take on a life of their own like a video in your mind’s eye, (or if they bring up a thought or feeling). This is a form of scrying and a way to receive the messages that the crystal is bringing to you through the Sigils.
