Tabby or Tabular Quartz Crystal

Physical description: Tabular or Tabby crystals are thin, flat crystals. To “qualify” as a Tabby, they should be no more than half as thin as they are wide. For example, if a crystal is one inch wide it needs to be one-half inch thick (or less) in order to be called a Tabby. If it is two inches wide it needs to be one inch thick (or less), etc. The picture is of a layered tabby crystal.

Metaphysical description: Tabby crystals are good helpers with communication. I remember this because they are shaped like a tablet.

SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT SIZE:

THE IMAGE SHOWN IS AN EXAMPLE OF A TABBY or TABULAR CRYSTAL. YOU WILL RECEIVE A SIMILAR CRYSTAL, BUT NOT THE CRYSTAL PICTURED.

*The size of these crystals will vary. I will send the most representative example of the type of configuration ordered, so if a crystal is small, but an excellent example of the particular configuration, I will send that crystal. If it is particularly small, I may send two in one bag (say 1/2 inch or so)… I aim for a size range from 1 to 2 inches long, 1/2 to 3/4 inch diameter.

Your Tabby crystal will come with a business-card-sized printed description of the characteristics and special qualities of the crystal within. Crystal sizes may vary greatly in size as I am selecting for the shape, not the size.

I have packaged it with the description card to help you learn the identifying characteristics and uses of this special configuration.

This crystal is sent as a representative sample of a Tabby crystal. It isn’t necessarily sent for its size, and sometimes may be Empathic (chipped, dinged or damaged), if it is an excellent representation of this type (for example, it might present as a very good Manifestation point in an Empathic (chipped and/or damaged) chunk).

Thanks, and ENJOY!!

01745 ARKANSAS QUARTZ CRYSTAL POINT

This is a Tabby (Tabular) Et (Extra Terrestrial or Extra Termination) Arkansas quartz crystal point. There are Bridges. The thinnest part of the Tabby feels slick and smooth to the touch, there are rough areas on the Bridges. There are very interesting geometric Sigils on the main face, and it is a Devic Temple (Fairy Frost, Mirror Fractures and Rainbows).

TABBY or TABULAR – Tabular or Tabby crystals are thin, flat crystals. To “qualify” as a Tabby, they should be no more than half as thin as they are wide. For example, if a crystal is one inch wide it needs to be one-half inch thick (or less) in order to be called a Tabby. If it is two inches wide it needs to be one inch thick (or less), etc. Tabby crystals are good helpers with communication. I remember this because they are shaped like a tablet.

ET – Extraterrestrial (also called ET or Extra Termination) crystals have a single termination at the top and the base has several terminations. Extra Terrestrial crystals remind me of a rocket ship. Extraterrestrial crystals have a powerful energy. You may use them to assist you in accessing beings from other realities (extraterrestrials) and Angels.

BRIDGE – A Bridge is a smaller crystal (or crystals) penetrating and located partially in and partially out of a larger crystal. Bridge Crystals help to bridge between worlds. It may be the inner and outer worlds between your inner and outer Selves or between yourself and others in the physical environment in which you now live. They are helpful in any area you might imagine needing a bridge. They can help you heal and get in touch with your inner child (bridging the gap between your outer self and your inner self). They are also good for connection and perspective.

SIGILS – Sigils are any markings that represent an idea. For example, a dollar sign is a sigil that represents money and abundance. Crystals may have markings that resemble things such as snake skin, mountain ranges, water or even cities. Sigils are surface features; you view them the same way you view a Record Keeper. Because a Sacred Sigil is a marking that reminds us of an idea or invokes a memory or feeling, the meaning will depend on what the sigil represents to you.

DEVIC TEMPLE – Crystals which have Fairy Frost, Mirror Fractures and Rainbows inside are called (by some) Devic Temples. They are considered Master Crystals. Other sources have described them as having special places for Light Beings to reside. I feel all crystals have this ability/inclination so I tend to shy away from this term because I feel like it is a little bit misleading (implying that only these crystals have this ability). I include it here because it is a popular search term.

FAIRY FROST – Fairy Frost crystals have fractures and inclusions of air within them. The trapped air is wispy, white and fairy-looking. Crystals with Fairy Frost are sometimes called Devic crystals. Devic Temple crystals have a combination of Mirror Fractures, Rainbows and Fairy Frost. Lots of crystals have Fairy Frost. Some are more fairy-like than others. Crystals with Fairy Frost are able to connect you with nature spirits and fairies (deva). They encourage us to connect with nature and to care for Mother Earth.

MIRROR FRACTURES – Mirror Fractures are shiny mirror-looking areas within the crystal, caused by damage (shocks (sudden temperature changes), traumas (hits, shaking, shearing Earth movement). Mirror Fractures serve as areas on which to reflect on our traumas and show that our traumas and challenges bring us added beauty and interest.

RAINBOWS – Rainbows are present inside a crystal due to fractures. It is helpful to have very bright light, and you may have to turn the crystal (side-to-side, upside down, etc.) in order to see them. Rainbow crystals are optimistic and happy. They remind us that we are loved and they remind us to look for the gifts our traumas bring us.

01710 ARKANSAS QUARTZ CRYSTAL POINT

This is a little grouping of Tabby (Tabular) Arkansas quartz crystal points. Five-Sided Isis Face and Bridges.

ISIS – Recently, the word “Isis” has triggered some computer algorithms to associate it with the unpopular group of the same name. I have changed the name of the Isis Face crystals because of these issues on checkout. What I am calling “Five-Sided Face Goddess Crystal” is in fact, still an Isis Face crystal. An Isis Face is a five-sided face on a crystal point. To “qualify” as an Isis face, the edges are usually symmetrical like the one pictured. While the Isis Face is sometimes the largest face, they are not always the largest face on the termination. Isis or Five-Sided Face crystals have a distinct powerful feminine energy (even if the point appears very clear and masculine). An Isis or Five-Sided Face point usually feels majestic and feminine (much as you would expect a goddess such as Isis to feel.) Isis Face crystals help you connect to all goddess energy, not just the Goddess Isis.

01660 ARKANSAS QUARTZ CRYSTAL POINT

This is a Tabby or Tabular, Double Terminated Arkansas quartz crystal point. Has a little bit of iron oxide mineral attached from the mine, a small Inner Child point (type of Bridge) and the Lineated sides are Etched and layered.

The picture is of a layered tabby crystal. Tabby crystals are good helpers with communication. I remember this because they are shaped like a tablet.

DOUBLE TERMINATED – Double Terminated crystals have a termination on both ends. These crystals grow from a “seed” molecule of silicon dioxide in clay and grow outward in both directions. They are not formed on a matrix. The energy in these crystals flows in both directions as well. Even though they have two terminations, oftentimes there is usually one end that feels like the “top” and one that feels like the “bottom.” Double Terminated points promote psychic ability and dream recall (because they send as well as receive) and are also used for balance. They are useful in any application in which you want the energy to flow in both directions. I like using them in healing layouts or grids because the energy flows in both directions.

INNER CHILD – A Bridge or Inner Child is a smaller crystal (or crystals) penetrating and located partially in and partially out of a larger crystal. Both names, Bridge and Inner Child, are used interchangeably. Inner Child crystals I see as much smaller and penetrating more “in” than “out” and they have a feeling to me of going “within.” Bridge Crystals help to bridge between worlds. It may be the inner and outer worlds between your inner and outer Selves or between yourself and others in the physical environment in which you now live. Inner Child crystals can help you heal and get in touch with your inner child (bridging the gap between your outer self and your inner self).

LINEATED SIDES – Lineated Sides are horizontal striations across the sides of a point. Lineated Sides can be used like a zipper to access further knowledge within the crystal. If you have worked with your crystal for a while and feel ready for more information or feel a desire to go deeper, you can unzip the crystal to receive the next layer of information. I experience this as receiving a deeper knowing or understanding that seems to be released quietly after they are unzipped. If you drag your thumbnail down the side of a point with deep striations, you are “unzipping” the crystal. To zip it back up, drag your thumb from the base back to the tip. This is like hanging up the phone after a conversation. It lets the crystal know you are “done for now” and you can pick up where you left off later. I used to think that unzipping would be like opening a box and looking inside, revealing a few more items, and once you see them, that is all. It isn’t quite like this though. It is more like opening the box, looking down inside and seeing that the bottom of the box opens to infinite space. There is no end to the amount of “extra” you can receive as you work with and unzip your crystal. It is literally like peeling an onion that has infinite layers. Just remember when you finish with your session to thank the crystal for its help, and zip back up until next time.

ETCHED – Etched crystals have abrasions on the outer areas of the crystal that look like hieroglyphics or writing of some sort. I’ve seen them called Lightning Strike Quartz, as well. To me, Etched crystals (or the etching on crystals) is symbolic in that it looks like writing. (For example, in the case of Lightning Strike, it looks like a lightning bolt zigzagging across.) I feel that the best way to use these crystals depends on the particular shape the etching takes (refer to Sacred Sigil crystals).

01731 ARKANSAS QUARTZ CRYSTAL POINT

Wow. Gorgeous! This is a Double Terminated Tabby (Tabular) Arkansas quartz crystal point. It has a large Bridge and Dolphin energy. The Bridge has black spotty Inclusions. There are large and small Barnacles, also Double Terminated, Etching and layering, a Curved side and a soft, buttery feel. Keys, Lineated Faces and Rainbows under some of the larger Barnacles.

DOLPHIN – Dolphin crystals are crystals which have a smaller crystal attached to (riding along) the side, not quite big enough to be a Twin or Soulmate, but aligned similarly. They are sometimes called a baby or a sidekick. If you picture a dolphin with a baby swimming very near it, this is what the Dolphin crystal looks like – a larger crystal with a smaller crystal riding alongside. Metaphysically, Dolphin crystals have a fun, playful energetic energy (that of the baby) and they can also have a nurturing, protective energy (that of the mother or adult). Imagine the energy to lovingly guide, teach and protect our young. This is the energy of a Dolphin Crystal. Anytime you need to tap into the playful, energetic, loving way dolphin mothers teach and guide their young you might ask for the assistance of or choose to work with a Dolphin crystal.

BARNACLES – Barnacles are smaller crystals that are attached to a larger crystal. Usually, these crystals emit a very Old Soul, ancient feeling. The larger crystal is the “Old Soul” and contains the wisdom and trust that attracts the smaller crystals (babies or new souls). I usually find that these Old Soul crystals with Barnacles are helpful to us in the way that a loving human grandmother/father or great grandmother/father would be (Imagine the Oracle from the Matrix movies). They help us to see things from a wider, deeper, wiser perspective. I think of the description of a crystal with Barnacles not so much as a description of the Barnacles themselves, but of the energy of the crystal that attracts or grows Barnacles.

INCLUDED – Included crystals occur when crystal is forming, and there may be other substances present in the solution. These substances might be air bubbles or other minerals. They become trapped (or Included) within the crystal point during its growth and are called Inclusions or Included crystals. Air and moisture inclusions fall into the category of Fairy Frost, a non-mineral inclusion. The properties of Included crystals will vary, depending on the mineral included within the crystal. The properties of the included mineral will be enhanced and amplified by being trapped within the structure of quartz.

(For example, in the case of Lightning Strike, it looks like a lightning bolt zigzagging across.) I feel that the best way to use these crystals depends on the particular shape the etching takes (refer to Sigil crystals).

CURVED – Curved crystals have a curved shape or have sides that are curved. This happens when the crystal is forming and it is a rare occurrence. Sometimes just the sides are curved; sometimes the whole crystal looks bent. Sometimes they are self-healed into a curved or bent form. Curved crystals have a gentle, yet powerful energy. Curved crystals help promote a flexible attitude.

KEY – Keys are indentations left by another crystal. Key crystals help you unlock answers to questions you may have. They help you to access anything which you   previously were blocked from accessing before you found the key. Is there an area which you could use help in accessing an answer which has previously been blocked to you? The energy of a Key crystal can help you to find an easier, more direct way in. Imagine this as easily opening the lock on the front door and walking right in (rather than having to check all the windows for one that is unlocked, climbing through, scraping your elbows and knocking your head). Ease of access is what Key crystal energy brings us. I like to put my finger in the Key as I work with the crystal. Meditate on the issue for which you need opening while holding the crystal in this way.

LINEATED FACE – Lineated Face crystals are crystals with surface markings viewed in the same way you find Record Keepers. Lineated face crystals may have markings which start as a small triangle that is outlined continually, oftentimes the pattern runs off the face of the crystal, sometimes it doesn’t. To picture this, just imagine the lines in a Zen garden. The innermost triangle may or may not be centrally located. Lineated Face crystals may be accessed during meditation in the same way that you might use a labyrinth. To work with Lineated Face crystals, follow the lines in and down to a meditative state and when you are finished, work your way back out from the center.

Sometimes Rainbows appear on the surface between two closely connected (fused) crystals. Metaphorically, this can represent how a relationship with a closely-attached-other can bring us Rainbows. Often the fusing of the two crystals produces a surface on which Rainbows like to ride. The relationship with the closely-attached-other creates a Rainbow to be explored and honored while the two are connected.

Quartz Crystal Cluster 00115

This Arkansas quartz crystal cluster has a mostly quartz base with a little bit of sandstone. There is one main point sticking up and it is a Tabby. Tabby crystals are good for communication and clusters are good for group dynamics. This might be a helpful cluster in an office or home where communication needs a boost.

CLUSTER – Clusters are points growing together on a matrix. Some Clusters grow on a sandstone matrix, others on all quartz, and still others may grow from a “seed” of crystal (like a mass of double terminated points). Clusters are good for helping with group dynamics. Families, co-workers, anywhere a group of people might need help in getting along. They are also good for raising the vibrations in an environment and bringing light and energy into that space.

The picture is of a layered tabby crystal. Tabby crystals are good helpers with communication. I remember this because they are shaped like a tablet.

01618 ARKANSAS QUARTZ CRYSTAL POINT

This is a pair of Arkansas quartz crystal Sheet crystals. They have Lineated Sides, a few Barnacles and some Fairy Frost.

SHEET – A Sheet crystal is a very thin, flat piece of crystal, thinner than a Tabby and often self-healed. Usually, Sheet crystals don’t have six sides to them, and they aren’t always self-healed on all sides. Often, the widest sides are either lineated or self-healed. If there is an area that isn’t self-healed, it will be on the thin edge. If at least one of the flat sides is not either a side or self-healed, it doesn’t qualify as a Sheet crystal. Sheet crystal is good for scrying and it has an expansive energy. They also often have a ringing bell-like sound when touched together.

01612 ARKANSAS QUARTZ CRYSTAL POINT

This is an Empathic Sheet Arkansas quartz crystal. It has lots of Fairy Frost and Mirror Fractures. It has Lineated Sides.

EMPATHIC – Broken, chipped and otherwise damaged crystals are called Empathic. Empathic crystals bring out compassionate feelings in us. The crystal picks up this empathy and amplifies it. Often the lesson of Empathic crystals is to remember to be compassionate and empathetic to our OWN chips, dings and perceived flaws and to remember we are still beautiful, whole, lovable and worthy.
